The Browning GPDA is a single/double-action pistol based on the Browning Hi-Power. It was firstly introduced in the 80s to compete in the U.S trials, but lost out to the Beretta 92F. The overall length of the pistol is 7,9"; a barrel length is 4,6" and weights 920g. The GPDA is equipped with a double-action trigger and with a de-cocking lever operable from both sides, next to the slide stops functioning. The pistol is available in a burnished version with plastic grips, nickel or gold-plated version with black plastic grips. The German gun manufacturer Umarex introduced a common blank fire version of the Browning BDA, known as the GPDA 9 and GPDA8. The GPDA 9 is the gas signal gun for professionals in the strong caliber of 9 mm P.A.K caliber. The GPDA8 version fires the 8mm blank ammunition and it is available also in the U.S. Most of the 9mm PAK blank firing pistols are available only in Europe.
